“Probably one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in anywhere in the world. Excellent location in Hobart, right on the harbour and convenient for downtown Hobart. The room was very well appointed, spacious and comfortable. The hotel staff are all very friendly and keen to help with any questions. Outstanding breakfast! I loved the 2 bars, one of them dedicated to Tassie spirits. I also loved the theme of the hotel around stories of people past and present that made Tasmania what an amazing place it is today. Stay here; you won’t regret it.”
“Loved our stay here! such a unique place with each room a tribute to an important member of history. vivid stories told by enthusiastic staff (thank you Aaron and Karissa) over gin tasting and a walking tour. cool view finders! also enjoyed the sparkling wine tasting with a bite to accompany each wine. delish breakfast spread with plenty of fruit, pastries and breads, yogurt, juices and then a full menu with huge portions! enough to hold us till dinner. perfect location, walkable to several nice restaurants and shops. very supportive front desk before and during our stay. quiet big room with super comfy bed and good size bathroom. fitness center and laundry. loved it all!!”
“Great stay at MACq 01 Hotel. The rooms are spacious, modern, and very well designed, and the location right on the waterfront is excellent. Breakfast was also very good – while the buffet had limited savory options, you can order one dish per person, which was absolutely delicious and made up for it. The only downside was the gym: the sloped ceiling makes the space feel quite tight, and with 4–5 people it quickly gets crowded. It’s okay, but doesn’t match the otherwise very high standard of the hotel. Overall, a strong experience with minor drawbacks.”
“We live in Melbourne and this was our first trip to Tassie in late April 2026. We absolutely loved our stay. The hotel’s all-timber cladding gives it such a warm, stylish and unique feel. The harbour area is vibrant and beautiful, and it’s an easy walk to the CBD with plenty of excellent restaurants nearby. It’s a perfect base to explore the city and enjoy the waterfront atmosphere. The staff were outstanding—very friendly, welcoming and genuinely helpful. We had a small issue using the TV remote and someone was sent straight away to assist. It turned out we simply didn’t know how to use it, but they handled it with great patience and a smile. Overall, a fantastic 5-star experience and we would happily stay again!”
“Fantastic location, beautiful spacious rooms, excellent service. Would highly recommend. So close to everything and a great lookout onto the harbour. When the balcony door is shut you can't hear anything on the harbour so not noisy at all. A fantastic 5 star stay.”
